The advancement team exists to ensure the long-term financial sustainability and growth of Hebron Christian Academy. We are dedicated to cultivating a culture of generosity and philanthropic support that enables the school to fulfill its mission of being a Christ-centered learning community focused on equipping minds, transforming hearts, and impacting culture.
The Hebron Christian Academy Board of Directors officially named Dr. James E. Taylor the Head of School effective July 1, 2020. His visionary leadership and pastor’s heart are already having a deep impact on the growth and development of the HCA community.
In his first four years as the Head of School, Taylor has already helped transform the campus at HCA. Within six weeks of Taylor’s arrival on campus, a capital campaign was launched to create an addition to the Lower School, which would cost $2.8 million. The Lord provided an anchor donor and more than 30 other donors followed, allowing all necessary funds to be raised for the building that opened in the fall of 2021.
A commitment to one-to-one technology was fully funded and implemented for more than $1 million during his first year, and, at the start of his second year, a STEM Center and Enrichment Center opened, transforming the way students learn at HCA.
During his second year at the school in 2021-22, a campaign was launched to expand the current F Building to build a new dining hall and a 500-seat broadway style theatre, which opened in the fall of 2023. Along with the opening of a new dining hall, Taylor also partnered with SAGE Dining Services to create a full-service hot lunch program for every student and staff member campuswide.
After much prayer, research, and planning, Taylor announced HCA's newest project in the fall of 2023, Lions Learning Academy, which will be a brand new special needs school that will go on a newly purchased 13-acre parcel of land behind the Lower School. The $20 million building will minister to students with cognitive and/or developmental disabilities and serve 250 students. While funds are raised for the new building, Lions Learning Academy opened as a soft launch in the fall of 2024, serving up to 24 children on the school's Old Peachtree Road campus.
Taylor has been in Christian education for 32 years, including 25 of those in senior leadership. Prior to HCA, he spent 15 years at Calvary Day School in Savannah, including nine as the Head of School. He first became a Head of School in 2000, spending five years leading New Testament Christian School in Norton, Massachusetts.
Dr. Taylor holds a B.A. in English from Messiah College, where he was the Pennsylvania Student Teacher of the Year in 1993, an M.A. in Literature from Bridgewater State University, an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership from Bridgewater State University, and an Ed.D. in Educational Administration from Georgia Southern University.
Taylor and his wife, Karen, have been married for 31 years and have two grown children. The couple took on the role of Minnie and Pops in the fall of 2023 when they welcomed their first grandchild, Emily, to the world. Their daughter Alyssa is a new mom and a nurse, and her husband, Ryland, is a pastor. Their son, Colton, works for a Christian school in Birmingham, Alabama where he teaches Mathematics. Colton and his wife, Ella, were married in January of 2025. Taylor’s wife, Karen, also serves at HCA where she teaches third grade.
